On Thursday 29th October, Jenny Bowen (Churchwarden), Jannis Abley (Child Safety Officer and PCC Member), Glen Thomas (Churchwarden) and Alison Thomas (Cantor) were invited to visit our Patron, All Souls College in Oxford.
We were welcomed by Prof. Sir John Vickers, Warden of the college. We joined him, with some of his staff and also representatives from other benefices for lunch before enjoying a tour of All Souls Chapel as well as the Codrington Library.
Why not join us for Afternoon Tea on Saturday 31st October?
Home-made cakes, Faitrade gifts and groceries, charity Christmas cards and wonderful company.
Come and get to know people in your community!
Once again we held our monthly Cake & Coffee event after our Service to give everyone the change to mingle with each other over locally produced (and locally purchased) cake and coffee.

Ash Wednesday is on 18th February. Then Easter Sunday is on 5th April. In between those dates we have Lent.
This year at St Margaret’s we’ve created a programme which is designed to not only offer to chance for us to gather together in prayer but also to come together in groups to examine, discuss and discover the meaning of Lent. Why not download our Lent 2015 leaflet or check our Calendar which shows what is happening, when and where.
Android and iPhone owners – did you know you can also subscribe to our Calendar? You’ll never miss another event!
Lent begins on Ash Wednesday (18th February), when all Christians should make every effort to be present in Church to receive the imposition of ashes and to make a good start to the season of Lent. Ashes are an ancient sign of penitence; from the middle ages it became the custom to begin Lent by being marked in ash with the sign of the cross.
To mark this occasion we have two Eucharist services on this day; 10:30am and also 7.30pm.
We very much hope and look forward to welcoming you to either of these services.
Afternoon Tea to be held in church on Saturday 21 February – between 2.00pm – 4.00pm.
Please come if you can. There’ll be tea, coffee and home-made cakes to enjoy, and there will also be fairtrade goods and groceries to order or buy. Traidcraft believe that trade provides the best opportunity for the world’s poorest farmers to work their way out of poverty and in buying fairtrade products we are helping them to.
Mary LeVoi, a long standing member of St Margaret’s, and who was also associated with several local music and charity groups, died on Friday 12 December, aged 93.
Her body will be received into St Margaret’s on Sunday 21 December at 6.00pm, and her Funeral Mass will be on Monday 22 December at 1.00pm.
We invite you to join us to celebrate the birth of Christ here at St Margaret’s Church, Ilford.
